I was there in June 2002. You should stay at hotels along the Aonang Beach, which has all the shops, restaurants, pubs... We stayed at Golden Beach (definitely less than US$100, around40?) which is quite a nice hotel. You can stay at Railay Bay but the place is only accessible by long-tail boats, and you 'll get wet.

If you get to Krabi by beach there will be people on the coach who work for the local hotels, book yourself one night in one of these (Krabi is not a big place) and then take a walk around and find one that suits your needs. I cant remember the name of the place that I stayed in but will find it tonight when I go home and reply again..... Krabi is an amazing place

Hi My wife and I came back from a holiday in Krabi in September. We also stayed in a bungalow at the Golden Beach hotel and we booked it through www.hotelthailand.com. We booked a package deal and we got 4 nights pay for three. I have posted a long travelogue (and some pictures) on my page and you are welcome to visit the page. Hope that you will have a great trip :-) Regards Gard
