how much for food per day?

by Gatsbycom Online Now Jun 6, 2012 at 3:52 PM

Hi, I'm a student visiting KK, Sabha, for a week this month. I want to know how much one needs for food per day. I would prefer the cheapest option, but definitely of reasonable quality? Fast food joints and roadside shops are my favorites. But, I've never been to this part of the world. So, I could use some advice. Would 5-10 dollars be enough for a day for food alone?

I think that5-10 as you suggest would be enough, probably best to budget for10 to be safe. I was recently in KL and we ate from the stalls on the street and small restaurants and most meals at such places are available for 6 ringit, but if you are a beer drinker it will cost you considerably more. Bottled water is available at a supermarket around 2 ringit for a 2l bottle, but probably you pay 2 ringit for a 500ml bottle at a restaurant.

$5(RM15)- good enough for 2 quality meals at roadside shop.10(RM30) - should be alright for 3 quality meals, even eat in fast food restaurants.

If you go to cheap Indian places, Masala Dosa (or Thosai), Roti Canai etc. you should be able to get for 2-3 RM, Vegetarian Thali (or Meals, eat as much as you can) 4-5 RM, with meat a little more, tap water is safe and free (you might have to ask for it).
