im a solo female traveller visiting kota kinabalu for about 8 days in january.im hoping that someone can give me some guidance as to how im suppose to set my itinerary.ive been going through all of the travel tip pages and i still cant organize my days;PLEASE HELP! i would like to be able to visit the following places:kinabalu park, poring hot spring(canopy walk trek); orangutan viewing at shangria resort, tunku abdul rahman islands for a few hours of snorkelling;kota kinabalu city, signal hill, lok kawi park and the green connection.how reliablle is public transportation?any reliable tourist company(i was scammed in vietnam and i pray to god it doesnt happen again!!!)???would it be better to stay within kota kinabalu city center or somewhere closer to the parks?thanks so much-any input will be appreciated!!!!:)))))
I don't think you need a day by day schedule, as all the stuffs can be done and booked when you arrive at KK. There is a building full of tour agents right next to the new mall, Suria Sabah. I wouldn't rely on public transport to go to the places you mentioned, except for these: -TAR marine park, which you can do it on your own. Just head to the jetty and buy a ticket there. No need to join a tour. -You can walk up to Signal Hill, or take a taxi. Public transport is irregular in the city.

yeah, if you are on your own, it's definitely better to stay in city center. There are a few cheap places on Gaya Street.

Hye sis.. Thanks for visiting Malaysia. Becoz you're doing solo, I recommended to you 2 hostel for backpackers. For details just type this name hostel 1. Borneo Backpackers Hostel (most recommended)they can take you from airport but make sure you arrive before 2300pm or you have to go your own. 2. Kinabalu Hostel. For your itinerary, I suggest you to look at Sabah tourism. And for accomodation you can take bus and train. Please don't take taxi becoz they don't use taxi meter. Also you can rent a car. Usually RM80 for the cheapest. Please bargain. sorry for broken english and I hope this will help you...

You can probably team up with others in the guest house. If not, read the tour programs and see where they go at what time, then go at the same time. The worse case is to join a tour if you are worried to go alone.

I am here in KK on holiday - many Filipino working here so you can draw on local expertise when you make your way round on your first day - the city centre is quite small so you can walk easily - Find you way to the sea front and walk north to market** - opposite is the KK mall keep going north - roundabout with a big fish (marlin?) keep going and follow Fuad Stephens to Jesselton Harbour - about 10 mins from market ** here you will find all the Island tours Many (not expensive) hotels here and still a good number of tourists Give my regards to John Hay !!

I assume you will transit the Dau Bus Terminal to catch your flight If you do ..this may be of assistance The air-con jeepneys operate from a dedicated min-bus lane which is on the right adjacent the Dau bus terminal (as you enter) - the cost was 100 peso per pax - as we (3) were the only pax it seemed reasonable
