Hi -I am on a cruise and need to get to MG Road from the port . Is it far ? Can it be done by taxi ? Thanks
We are currently vacationing in Kochi and so the information I am providing is reliable. Going from the port to MG Road is very doable by taxi or you could even take an auto-rickshaw assuming that only two passengers are involved. Using an auto should not cost more than R50 depending on which part of MG Road you are looking to reach - MG Road is quite a long road. Using a taxi would cost you more but again it should not be much more than R100 or so. Just make sure that you agree the rate with the driver beforehand otherwise you run the risk of getting into an argument at the other end. If you are planning on doing a fair amount of sight-seeing/shopping, it may be worth your while to take a taxi on an hourly basis - the charge works out to about R120 per hour for an air-conditioned taxi. The current rate of exchange is about R49 to the US dollar so we are talking relatively little money by US standards.
