Hi, wanted to know what is the best way to go to Disneysea from Hilton Shinjuku. Is it better to take a metro from Nishi-Shninjuku to Tokyo station and then take a JR train or is it better to take a metro from Tochomae to Yoyogi and take a bus to Disney Resort ? From Google Earth, I see that the Yoyogi station does not have overbridge. Does Yoyogi have a subway to cross the railway track ? Apology for asking boring questions, but small details help. Visiting Hiroshima, Kyote and Tokyo - travel advice please.

      Japan Feb 19, 2015 at 7:00 AM

      Hi,
Some advice or opinions would be much appreciated. I am hoping to visit Japan for the second time in May, last time I only wen't to Tokyo. This visit I am planning to fly into Kansai Airport at Osaka and spend three days in Hiroshima and five days in Kyote before travelling to Tokyo for about a week then returning to the UK from Tokyo airport.
The question is should I go to Hiroshima from the airport then visit Kyote and then onto Tokyo or should I first visit Kyote then Hiroshima and finally Tokyo.
I would like advice on travel times and costs as well as what trains to take and if a rail pass would be a good idea as they only seem valid for certain rail lines.
      Thanks
      Tony

    • Tokyo Weather in March

      Tokyo Feb 15, 2015 at 4:52 AM

Hi, I will be in Tokyo (with my wife and a 9 yr old son) from 14th - 21st Mar and in Kyoto 21st Mar - 27th Mar. I see that the temperature varies between a max of 13 deg and min of 4 deg celsius. Does it mean that reasonable amount of winter clothing will be needed ? Also I see that the rainfall increases markedly in March from Feb. Does it mean I should expect most of the days to be rainy / cloudy ? Also when it rains, does it pour (like Monsoon in India) or is it more like a drizzle ? Also should I take one of the Mt Fuji trips from Tokyo in case expecation is that the mountain will hide behind a cover of cloud ? Apology for so many questions but given that all are related to weather, though I should ask them in one place. Thank you for your help in advance.

Train Tickets from Osaka-Kobe and back

by magictravelers Online Now Aug 24, 2006 at 5:37 PM

OK, this is our 2nd post for our trip to Kobe on October. We are traveling to Kobe to attend a MTG PT at the International Exhibition Center in Kobe from October 20-22. We arrive to Osaka on Sunday and plan to stay there until Wenesday, when the rest of the gang arrives and we go to Kobe. In Kobe, we are looking at the Toyoko Inn Hotel which so far is the cheapest and closest to the IEH.
      We have 2 (more) questions:
      1. What is the cost for the train from Osaka-Kobe, and the back train?

      2. Any cheap, but nice hotel, hostel or guest house in Osaka? We would like to be at least close to the metro, or the center.

We will try to go to Kyoto for a day visit:
Train cost from Osaka? Any recomended tours?

And finally, for now-what is the weather like in October?
(So, I lyed. More than 2 questions :-b)

      Cheers from Barcelona

      Visiting Kobe

by xantylaol Online Now Jun 4, 2006 at 11:18 AM

      Hi!

I've browsed thru the most recent travelling tips for Kobe and you seem to bring up many good tips and recommendations. Because some information seems to be outdated I would like to ask some of the same questions and some new ones. I'm travelling alone. I really appreciate the time and effort you make to give me a reply! :

      1. I'm arriving in Kobe in the middle of July and plan to stay for a few days. I would like to book a room that's clean and tidy, but don't need anything fancy. Preferably with an internet connection. Preferrably as central as possible and in terms of price - as good a deal as possible. Where would you recommend to stay?

      2. I plan to see as much as possible while I'm there. Can you recommend a good travel agent for getting around in Kobe/Japan? I prefer to fly. What should I expect to pay?

      3. I also plan to go from Kobe to Osaka and Tokyo. Which travel agent, website or airline would offer the best prices for such? Would you recommend something else that's a "must see"?

      4. I love asian food - but is the native cuisine in Kobe/Japan as expensive as some people tell me? Even some japanese travellers I met said a meal of sushi costs like 100 US$ in a restaurant. That's a high average price I would say...

      5. What is crime like in Kobe. Is it dangerous to wear a camera around your neck in central parts of the city - or should it be kept consealed for example? I heard it's really safe - just checking...

      6. What would be your - say five - highest ranked "gotta see/do this" attractions in Kobe?

Thanks a lot for any input you might have for my questions! :)

      Regards

      Chris

      Beautiful sakura(cherry blossoms) in Kobe

by lisawu Online Now Mar 11, 2005 at 12:52 AM

Hi. I am going to visit Kobe at the end of March. I know that there are many beautiful cherry blossoms during this period of time. Would anybody tell me that where’s the best viewing spot? Moreover, is there any hot spring resort that you could enjoy the beauty of Sakura while you are having the spring? I also want to try the sushi that made by Sakura. Please give me more information about. Thank for your help.

      Coming to Kobe

by Sunnyonenc Online Now Feb 15, 2005 at 3:16 PM

Hello - My daughters and I will be coming to Kobe on March 27 , 2005 for three days. They were born there in 1961 and 1962 but we left when they were toddlers. Now they are both married and busy with children of their own. I'm excited about showing them around and hope someone in VT could help us. They were born at Kaisei International Hospital which I hope is still there. We'd also like to get recommendations on a place to stay. We'll be arriving on the Shinkansen so I thought we'd be better off staying at a hotel near the station. I have a few other questions and wonder if someone out there will respond. I sent a message to Sakura last week and have not received a response yet. Thanks in advance for your help.
