I agree with the suggestion of using the japan-guide site. Very helpful. In addition I used both the LP Guide: shop.lonelyplanet.com/Primar... and the Eyewitness Guide: worldofmaps.com/showitem.cfm... Got both of them on the amazon.uk site - worth comparing prices. But the internet really was much more useful! The only book that I would absolutely recommend is the Exploring Kyoto book for self-guided walking tours around the city. Just marvelous: Also purchased from amazon.uk amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h... BTW - all of this info is available via google.
