Well, here's my sad story. Just yesterday me and my girlfriend, we came back from a vacation in Thailand – our first vacation together, and it was incredibly awesome, feels like a honeymoon, awesome journey. But here’s a thing – unfortunately, we lost our camera, just forgot it on a table in Seahorse Restaurant at Wong Duean beach on Koh Samet island. It happens at approx. 6-7 PM on Thursday, 13th September. It was full of amazing photos and short videos. Which are very valuable for us. It was a day before we left, and local police wasn't really helpful, and we tried our best, asked every reception on the beach, asked staff at the restaurant – but wasn't able to find it. My good guess is – in case the camera was stolen, probably thieves would try to sell it, instead of keeping it. I know, that chances are very slim, but I will try: So, if anyone found or buy used Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 camera, black, with a serial number FD96A002862, and with a 16GB memory card in it – anywhere around on Koh Samet island, or in Rayong, or Pattaya, or online, or anywhere else in Thailand – please, please, please, contact me! At this e-mail: kantor@gmx.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: even if the camera had no pictures in it, it’s actually pretty easy to restore them from a formatted memory card on a computer – there’s a lot of free and easy-to-use utilites to do that. So even if it’s empty (most likely it is), please, contact me anyway, before taking a lot of pictures with it! Obviously, I won’t be asking for a camera back, and no questions asked – all I want is to try and retrieve my photos. I will send you a link for a program and detailed instructions on how to restore deleted photos. I will explain to you and provide you online storage to upload those pictures, and I will pay any internet bills, and we would be eternally thankful for saving and returning us photos from this vacation. If you can’t upload them, maybe you can just send them via mail on a flash/CD-R, I will pay for all postage rates, etc. If you can help to spread the word around you, or suggest any other good forums/communities where to post this note, I would be very thankful too! I know chances are very slim, but I still want to try to do everything possible.

Hi, I will be in Bangkok for a few days from Sat 30th Jan to Wed 3rd Feb and want a few chilled beach days; Koh Samet looks the nearest and easiest choice. Hotels online are looking quite expensive; I am wondering a) how easy it is to rock up and find somewhere reasonably priced say 800-1200baht a night and b)what beach/resort is the best choice?? I would like something relaxed but with a few restaurants/bars, beach activity etc... Is anyone who has been there able to advise? many thanks...
I am looking at visiting Ko Samet Haad Sai Kaew around New Year time (not the weekend). What are the chances of just turning up & getting a decent bungalow/guesthouse for under 1000 baht.
We are looking to stay at the paradee resort for our honeymoon, but do not want to just eat etc there. I understand that we are right at the end of the island but are there any restaurants etc nearby that are walkable or if not how difficult would it be to get transport to say candle light beach? Any tips would be greatly received

What about this resort? Any recent reviews and photos? Planning for coming holidays. Thanks
Are there any tailors in Koh Samet?
Hi, Whats the weather like in the middle of November?
Hi All, Planning to stay there for a week in November if your reviews are good? Any advice welcome. Thanks, Ian
I have been looking constantly for the last 5 days for somewhere to go with a relaxing atmosphere, but also be able to grab a drink in the evening..somewhere with lovely beaches and see-through water, but also nowhere more than 500B a night.... I have been to Koh Tao three times over the last 3 years and I guess Im looking for something very similar to that, but just cant seem to find it... I have looked at Koh Chang, Koh Samet and all that area, but just cannot find a single review that says the same thing! Today is 20th Oct and I want to fly there on 24th, so as you can see, time is not on my side!!! Any ideas please...Gulf of Thailand islands will be rainy now as otherwise I would prob just go back to Samui and the cosy little bungalows we had there one year... And of course there are so many places which do not probably advertise on the internet so there may in fact be places like Im looking for, but I wouldnt know until I arrived... Help please...Ko Chang pros and cons, Koh Samet pros and cons...and of course anywhere else in that area! South west is too expensive for me. Thank you.
Hopefully, someone can answer me before Friday. I tried to make a reservation at Tubtim Resort but I need to call and reconfirm on Friday. After looking at many sites about Ko Samet it looks like to get a budget bungalow you really can't make reservations and you just need to go there. Is this weekend going to be too busy and we may not get get a room? Also, we may get to the pier after 6:00 p.m. and it looks like the ferrys stop then. What is the best/cheapest way to get a speedboat after 6:00 p.m.? Go to a travel agency? Are they still even open at night? I have loads of questions, sorry about that. Thanks much.
Arriving mid week in February and would like to book a beach front bungalow in Ko Samet. I would be grateful for any recommendations for somewhere quiet but within walking distance of bars and restaurants approx 2500 baht per night. Also approx cost of getting from the ferry to resort. Thanks in advance Derek
Ploy samet Restaurant and Mook Samed Restaurant for dining with family. Which one is good and less expensive?
Is Koh Samet more affordable than Pattaya in terms of food and daily sea activities ?
Has anybody been to Ao Phai Beach? How far is it to go to the to Hat Sai Kaew Beach and to WongDuern Beach? How's entertainment and eating (day/night) in this beach?
Recent opinions or reviews(pros/cons) are all welcomed.
I am looking for a nice place to stay on Ko Samet. Preferably with a hot shower and seaview/beachfront if possible without having to pay a fortune. It would also be great if it was on a quieter beach. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello VT: Plan to Koh Samet in Feb. with 2 kids, 6 and 4yrs old. 1) Which beach is the best choice to stay with the mini marts and restaurants with easy walking access? 2) Any recommendation for the mid range price kids friendly family resort we can choose? Me and my partner are planning to visit thailand in the third week of July. We havent been able to decide whether to go to Ko Chang or Ko Samet for two to three nights. My first choice had been Ko Chang due to its unspoiled and clean beaches but we are concern about the rain and since this is off season we are wondering if its gonna be too quite. We also read that the beaches in Ko Chang are not as beautiful as Ko Samet. Please advise
Hi how are you? I was wondering if it's the right time of year to go snorkeling at the moment; ie. July. Where are the best locations on the island to go snorkeling? Thank you! :) Connie
Hi, It's been 3 years since I was last on Ko Samet and it seems like it's really gone upmarket since then. I used to stay at Sai Kaew Villa in May for around 500 Baht for a deluxe fan room without breakfast, does anyone know if this is still possible for a walk in rate. Also are the restaurant/bar prices still the same as they were. I used to love my beach bbq and cheap beer chang at 60 baht a large bottle. Hope everyone there is having a great time Thanks in advance Sharon
How is Tonsak resort? Is it clean, on a good beach, close to other restaurants, bar? How's the toilets, do they flush? Their website is http://www.tonsak.com/
