We are travelling to a wedding in Ivalo next September. How many km is it ? And road conditions - how long should we expect the trip to take (one way) ?
I was driving the other way last July, but I started from Inari, which is not very far from Ivalo as I stayed there over night. I took the shorter way to the east on road 971, in July there is no problems to use it and I was in Kirkenes by the afternoon. Obviously I was on holiday so I stopped few times on the way so it took longer. You can make it I assume in few hours. Be aware that as later as it gets in September you might have a bad weather and maybe driving via Utsjoki is wiser.

216 km. I drove most of it last summer and the road is ok. More reindeers than other cars.
