Hi! Am planning a trip to Kilimanjaro soon, and am looking at the different routes and guiding companies. I still haven't found any companies that have the option of going up one route and come down a different one. For example to go up from the west side of the mountain and come down on the east side. Does anyone know if this option is possible?
Hi, Sure there are companies offering options on the routes for the ascent/descent! You can select two different routes - the only concern is the time you have, as some routes take longer due to terrain, climate (direction it faces), etc. Check out Sunny Safaris in Arusha. I managed to opt for two routes :-)

Hi, Found this info at adventuretraveladvisor.co.uk... "Lemosho is the best route as it’s not often used so it retains its wilderness feel; there’s no litter on the trail and the first two campsites are clean. It takes longer and if you combine this route with an acclimatisation trek up Meru, for example, then you’ll positively enjoy summiting."

My brother and I did our first climb of Kilimanjaro through Northstar Explorers back in october and it was an absolutely amazing experience. We took the Machame route both up an down the mountain and although I cant tell you ive ever heard of a company offering two different routes for ascension and descension I can say that our trek was definatly everything I could have hoped for and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them
