moving to kihei

by samms7 Online Now Nov 22, 2003 at 12:30 AM

I'm thinking to retired in Kihei. I'd like to know since I'm vegetarian if there's a health food store like here in So. Cal. we have "Follow your Heart" and "Whole Food Market." Also is it possible to live without car there? Is Bicycle enough? Do I need any Sweats or jackets like Cal? so I know what to take.Thx!

Yup, there's a nice health food store next to Maui tacos. Most people wouldn't need much in the way of heavy clothes but So Cal folks have just about as thin blood as the locals, so some sweats and a light jacket are sometimes nice. for me it's boardshorts and a T shirt 24/7.

Lots of people don't have cars here. Bicycle is plenty unless you want to see the island, and then you can rent.

I saw plenty of "hippy" types wandering Kihei, so I am sure you find a friendly environment. There's a natural food store in Kihei, and I see a lot more hitch-hikers on Maui than on the mainland.

I'm not sure if you've ever been there.
