Bus. It's not far away

Either train or bus. Train takes somewhat over 4 hours, bus takes 5 hours. The "Skhidny Express" train # 173 (daily, except Tuesdays) would leave Har'kov 12:04, arrive Dnepropetrovsk at 16:34. Track/platform of departure varies. The train 803 (daily, except Wednesday) would leave 15:11, arrive 19:52. This looks to be a "parrot" (an upgraded faster elektrichka = EMU; 'parrot' because they sometimes have fancy color). Track/platform of departure 3. There are also Russian through trains, usually they stay 20 minutes - so it's a good idea to be early. The train 15 would leave in the middle of the night at 3:10, arrives 7:41. Track/platform of departure 4. The train 65 would leave at 7:40, arrives 11:51. Track/platform of departure 6. There are many busses, most use older Ikarus equipment. The easiest choice seem to be the "parrot"

... maybe because the "parrot" (popugai) is cheaper? That will live the OP with the 803/804 which is still OK.

I would try bus first but you need some one who speaks Russian to look into it. If you can't do bus they have some discount airlines and of course aerosvit, might find a good price on a flight.
