Snorkeling for beginners

by charnagirl Online Now May 23, 2005 at 6:11 AM

Hello:

My family and I are planning a trip to Key Largo in the search for a good snorkeling place for beginners. Any suggestions? Are there any places right off a beach that we would not need to take a boat to? Also, is December and January too cold to snorkel down there or are the temps still pretty warm. Thanks for any advice!

Dec and Jan are hit and miss temp wise-what you've really got to watch is the wind. The park off shore(John Penecamp) is nice but you need a boat.Try driving to bahia Honda state park and you can snorkel off the beach. There is a channel cut in th rock by the campground where you can jump in pretty deep water right off the beach.-enjoy-CR
