My wife and I will be traveling to Kenya in about two weeks. We have a fairly busy schedule that we have outlined thus far and have room for only one safari. We are torn between Masai Mara and Amboseli for a three-day excursion departing from and returning to Nairobi. I would appreciate any feedback regarding which game park is best. Or which park is best for seeing certain animals. I would also like to hear if people have personal preferences for any of the aforementioned parks for whatever reasons. Thanks in advance.
I don't know about Amboseli, but I went to Masai Mara and it was fantastic for animal viewing. I saw so many animals; lions, giraffes, elephants, etc.... A sunrise safari at Masai Mara is gorgeous! I hope you enjoy your trip. Just a tip: Bring a panaromic camera for your safari, I just brought a fuji throw away camera and it took some great photos!

Hello, I have been to both Amboseli and the Maasai Mara on two separate occasions. My recommendation is to go to the Maasai Mara. Although you are guaranteed to see many animals, especially elephants, in Amboseli, much of the land has been so impacted that it looks like barren land. And, I think you are just as guaranteed to see all of those animals in the Maasai Mara as well, not to mention, the landscape and scenery in the Mara is better in my opinion. Have a wonderful time. Hi I know both parks very well and would recommend Masai Mara as well. Right now heavy rains are flooding the country and Amboseli is always on the risk of getting flooded first. Also very important will be that you book a 4x4 safari and not a bus safari. With a normal safari bus which is very common in Kenya your chances of game viewing will be limited. Hi, I'm Kenyan and I recommend the Maasai Mara. I've been there and you'll see enough animals, such as lions, zebra, wildebeest, girraffe, hippo etc. plus the Maasai. But there isnt much difference with Amboseli park, so either way you wont miss much in terms of animals. Carry a binoculars. It is a wonderfull world of wildlife in the masai mara and amboseli is like the mother of all elephants in Kenya.I did asafari like that early this year with kenyan company called trailfinder[e-mail:trailfinders2000@yahoo.com]My trip was aseven day trip in lodges 3 nghts mara-1 nght lake nakuru[paradise of flamingos] and two nihgts Amboseli.
