I'm going to Thorpaka, anyone been!?

by greenelephant Online Now Jan 10, 2011 at 6:18 AM

Hi guys, I'm going to help out at an eye clinic in Thorpaka village and I just wondered if anyone had been and what it was like! What's it like getting to the villages from Kathmandu? What will the weather be like in March/April time?

I can't wait to go!!!

you are in for good trekking weather, warm spring days, but hazy, probably. I do not know where your village is located, but half an hour to one hour by taxi brings you to the edge of habitation in the Kathmandu bowl in any direction, and you can start walking. There are some well known trekkers' trail heads, such as Sundarijal, which is located NNE from the city proper. That place is good for rim walks and multi-day hiking into the Helambu area.
