Flying Fox Festival in Katherine

by holtz4 Online Now Apr 21, 2008 at 1:17 AM

About 15 of us from Adelaide are heading up to Katherine to participate in dragon boat events included in the Flying Fox Festival. Can you suggest good places to stay, perhaps camping or cheaper hotels.
Also Steve and I will be staying up that way for about 3 weeks, so all suggestions on where to go, what to watch out for would be greatly appreciated.

This sounds like something fun to do.
I have stayed in the Palm Court Backpackers in Katherine and we found it great.
It was a motel before backpackers. Some unites have there own kitchen, with fridge etc. Veru comfortable and close to the main drag.
We have had lots of questions lately about this area, Darwin and Kukadu etc, Just scroll down the Aussie travel page and you will see the questions asked and the answers:)
You have a great amount of time to explore the National Parks. With a good map and advice you can get from VT ,local Information centres you will really be able to explore this area.

Plus have a look at our VTer (1+1)'s page,Zig has a lot of info on his page about this area. He is a local.
