      Anyone up for Tibet ?

      Tibet Jan 14, 2015 at 6:31 AM

      Hi everyone !
My name is Juliette, I’m 21 and I’m french. I’m studying art in Suzhou at the moment, but I’ll be taking some time off to travel around China starting the end of january. I have been planning to go to Tibet around the last week of february, but quite honestly, I’m looking for someone (or a group of someones, the more the merrier !) to share the costs with, seeing how the requirements make it quite expensive, and it's always nice to do this kind of trip with someone to share with !
Anyone out there interested in joining me ? :)

      10 hour layover tour

      Beijing Jan 6, 2015 at 5:26 PM

I choose a flight with a 12 hour layover intentionally so I could take one of those layover tours in Beijing and visit the great wall of China..

I noticed the tours are "private" so they adapt to your needs.. i have couple of questions.. has anybody has done it and if so which company you used?
will you consider the private tour to be safe for a female solo traveler?

Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Jan 23, 2015 at 5:05 AM

      Hi!
My boyfriend and I will travel to China in May. Our plan is to get a train straight to Ulaanbaatar and stay at Mongolia for a week. The only thing is we have no idea what to do and how to travel in Mongolia, we really could use some help.
We are backpackers - which means, low budget travel and seeking for an authentic experience. I know we just got 1 week to spend there, but we would really like to visit the Gobi desert and spent the night at locals house.
      Thank you!!

We will be in Kashgar from 13th October this year and don't need to be in Shanghai until the 20th so we would like to do at least an overnight stay at Karakul Lake. Is this something we would do on our own from Kashgar using local transport or would we hire a guide. What about Shipton's Arch is this something worth a visit, also. Any other suggestions.

Does anybody have ang reccommendations? We are a group of 6 American, Canadian and Singaporean classmates and half of us are of Han background and are thus a bit nervious to be traveling in Xinjiang if you know what i mean. Can abybody suggest a nice, inexpensive, safe place in kashgar with hot showers and clean rooms? as of now our budget is a bit flexible, but 70-100 RMB for a double room is what we're looking for. do local people understand what you mean ,where you want to go ?
you can say ,instead of calling it in english ,call it (yingi bazaar) ,that is much better for tourists .
and another thing , tourists don,t know where to stay while they are in kashgar city , good answer is ,Chinibag Mihmanhanisi (chinibag hotel) or Saman Mihmanhanisi (seman Hotel) ,there are bunch of hotels in kashgar but little expensive .

Now the last big constaraint is the possible snow cover and pass closure. Anyone knows some reliable sources where to enquire about the last few years, when the pass was repopened and what exactly are the criteria? Some insight would be great, thanks.
