I am American, and I am planning on traveling to Pakistan to get married to my fiance who lives in Karachi. I want to know if it is safe for me to travel to Karachi. Of course I am not traveling alone , and I plan on taking precautions as far as food and water go. Anybody who can offer any advice or an answer to my question will be much appreciated! Thank you!

Hi, I crossed Pk from the South to the North in 2004. I was not alone but with my friend who still stays in Pk and I have stayed there abt 1 month. So what can I advise to u? It was safe, people were so friendly, everybody was interested in me... We used to have dinner at different people places every evening, they invited us to their homes every day! Sometimes plenty of people in small villages came to the place I stayed to visit me and to see me because I was something strange for them.. a stranger! Sometimes it was looked like me being placed in the Zoo cage where animals were. They saw me and laughed. My friend said it was ok! My suggestion is to travel across all Pk (with ur local friends) but escape North-West Province where still bomb blasts.. Other way, I still cannot place and compare my situation and experience in PK with urs because there are Asian roots in my blood (I'm half Asian and half European) so it was very easy for me! Well said. I wonder why he is asking such a question in this forum? He is going to a fiancee who lives in Karachi and must have many relatives who know every moment of life. I live with 12 members of my family in Karachi.The only problem here is traffic jams till 8 am to 9 pm, erratic power supply and normal big city (16 M) crimes. Anyway thanks for your elaborate comments.

Ya.. Now I know that some forum members share my point of view:)! I was impressed by people in Pk. So warm and sincere relationships I didn't see in my other 28 countries I've visited! Gud luck!

Another question: Is it safe for Pakistani women to live in Karachi? No. It's unpredictable, you have to treat it like a Safari; animals everywhere! Go on ignoring them, and it'll be ok. Never respond to them, they're animals!

Karachi has a population of 15 to 18 M. According to a feminine media program called " 51%", more than half of Karachi population must be women.
