My husband and I are staying in Murren for 3 days next summer. We would like to rent bikes and do the bike trip rick Steves has done out of Murren. It looks fairly easy but I have read that it is not as accurate as it seems............any suggestions? We would like a nice easy ride.
My family is planning to visit Switzerland in April and we plan to be in grindlewald in the first/second week. Does it snow in April and what are the average temperatures? Kids haven't seen snow so this is important for them. Snow on the ground is great but snowing would be better. Thanks
Hi! We are a family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids- aged 10 & 7 yrs), visiting Switzerland, for the 1st time, in June 2014. Would like to share our 9 day itinerary and hear if we have packed our days well or have left out something etc. Also, which kind of Swiss Pass would work best for us:
Day 1: Arrive in afternoon at Zurich from Paris. Local sightseeing (suggestion, please?)
Day 2: Day trip to Rhine Falls & Titisee-Neustadt(Black Forest Area & Drubb Cuckoo clock factory visit).
Day 3: Day Trip to Lucerne (Water Tower, Chapel Bridge, Lion Monument, Glacier Garden, Folklore show at Stadtkeller Museum).
Day 4: (Don't know how to choose between Mount Titlis, Uetliberg, Rapperswil). Any other suggestions?
Day 5: Leave for Interlaken in the morning. In the afternoon- Lake THun ferry ride with stop at Oberhofen, for castle.
Day 6: Jungfraujoch from Interlaken
Day 7: Ballenberg Open Air Museum( Is it a full day trip? What's there to engage the children?)
Day 8: Cheese and chocolate factory visits at Gruyeres & Broc
Day 9: Free morning at Interlaken; return to Zurich post Lunch
Day 10:catch morning flight home
Look forward to any suggestions and advice on what rail pass would work for our visit. Thanks!
Is it better and cheaper to get a hire car from Paris, drive around switzerland (I'll need to buy a vignette) and return it at Geneva (France side)....
Hire a car from Paris, drop it off at Geneva (France side), hire another car at Geneva (Swiss side) which will have vignette included, drive around swiss and return at Geneva?
I need advice what types of bags should i bring for a 13 days trips to Italy, Switzerland & Paris in December'13 - winder period. We would stay at different hotel almost every night, which mean we have to bring our luggage/bags every morning when we check-out. What type of bags and/or day bag are recommended during winter for easy management of all the bags on the move. Thanks!
I am flying to Zurich in July and will be staying in St Gallen for 2 weeks.I want to visit Lake Constance area returning each evening to St Gallen. Is the Swiss half fare Card the most economical way for me to travel? I've not been able to find the fares between St Gallen and the Lake Constance area.
I want to go from Buchs SG to Chur on Friday around lunchtime. I will be walking/bussing from Liechtenstein to Buchs. I could take a train but it's only 40 minutes and maybe I could hitchhike there easily. Where should I stand to get a ride to Chur?
We are planning a visit to St Gallen, my Mom's birthplace. How close would that be to Austria, and would it be worth the trip if we could only spend an afternoon?
What is the Austrian town with stuff to do that is closest to St Gallen?
Any suggestions? There sure seems a lot to do in St Gallen itself.
thanks in advance
