first time to KC - hotels in Westport area

traveling with buddies and teenage sons to KC for college basketball and panthers/chiefs. Westport sounds fun for adults - what is a good hotel to stay in the area? is westport the right area?

    Are you b-ball games at the Sprint Center? Downtown might be better. There are more hotel options, and a lot of nightlife/restaurants/things to do in the Power and Light District as well as in the Crossroads area nearby. Just my0.02 worth!
