Best preserved towns

by jayhawk2000 Online Now Dec 15, 2002 at 5:38 AM

I've always wanted to visit Peabody after hearing it's a particularly well-preserved town. In fact, I've learned it's one of two Kansas towns which has its entire downtown listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Which makes me wonder, what's the other one?? What other Kansas towns do you think have the best character, most handsome buildings, etc? Fort Scott and Council Grove come to mind.

I would say the Fort Scott is a good place to start they have a sign on 54 hwy. going east that says Fort Scott a festival 365 days a year, haha anyways there are many historic buildings there to see, also check out big bruts just a little bit south of ther about 30 miles or so. Chris
