Driving direction to Bt Tinggi

by TheNanyangChinaman Online Now Jan 22, 2008 at 12:23 AM

Hi VTers

I like to drive up Bt Tinggi from Singapore this coming CNY.
No problem getting onto the NS highway.
However I need precise instructions on how to get off the NS highway and get onto the KL-Karak highway to get to Bt Tinggi.
Advise from Malaysian VTers or any knowledgeable VTer will be most appreciated.

TIA

moey

    Hi there.

Subject to your familiarity of Kuala Lumpur, the easiest way would be,
    - straight to KL after the Sungai Besi toll. Follow thru until you reach Jalan Tun Razak where you should see the Petronas Twin Towers on your right
    - Take the tunnel where there is a signage going to Ampang (or MRR2) in green colour.
    - Take note of the signage when you proceed on the fly over right after the tunnel.
    - Take the exit to Ampang using the elevated highway. You have to pay RM1.50 toll fee by using this Elevated Highway
    - After the toll take the 2nd exit. The signage shows MRR2, Batu Caves & Kuantan if I'm not mistaken. After this exit you are on MRR2
    - Straight until you see the exit to Kuantan, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa etc. Its either the 6th or 7th exit. I cant recall exactly. From there on, you should be able to enter onto the Karak highway. The toll at Gombak is RM5.

Hope you will make it. Will provide another option in another reply.

    2nd option

-After Sg Besi toll, keep to the left of the road.
-Take the exit going to Kuantan (MRR2)
-As you go out, there is steep turning. Need to be sure on the lane as otherwise you my be returning back towards Seremban. Try to take middle lane then. This is already MRR2
-Straight ahead following the signage to Kuantan (quite a number of fly overs) with exit to Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras, Pandan (TESCO), Ampang etc.

It may sounds simple but it could be complex if you are not familiar with this area.

Apart from saving RM1.50 using this option, the traffic jam thru this area is not as bad as KL depending on what day at what time u travelling.

    There you go. Good luck.

    Many thanks, Marjan.

    The information given was great.
With it I looked up on the street directory and was able to have
some idea of the route to take.
But when comes to the actual undertaking it is a different ball
    game altogether.

I initially thought going from NS highway to the east-west highway would be
just a simple slip road, bypassing KL, how wrong was I.

The roads in KL are really complex, and not being in KL for
    decades does not help either.

Well your direction did help, but I need all the luck I can
muster when I do make the trip.

    Selamat and all the best.

One tiny correction, at Jln Tun Razak the twin towers should be on your left! Among the builidng on the right are US Embassy & Mikasa hotel.

At the very least, the roads mentioned have clear & proper signages. You just need to be alert...

    Hi mariam,
    Thanks so much.
I have decided to take the second option as it is 1) more direct route from NS hwy to Ece and 2) my GPS unit after inputing the requested data also recommends this route and moreover it will guide me all along the way.

By the way the mapping software is provided by GPS hobbiest from Malsingmaps.com with most of them from Malaysia and Singapore.

    Regards,

    hi moey...

you are right that the second option is the most direct route... the mrr2 (which you will be on) is well signboard... just follow the signage to kuantan and genting highlands... on entering the karak highway, the toll will be myr5.00... go all the way until you come to the exit to bukit tinggi after the tunnel... but note that the exit will not show "bukit tinggi" but its new name "berjaya hills"... i am asuming that you are going to the berjaya hills resort... if you are going to selesa hills resort or bukit tinggi village, then you will have to turn off the the first exit after the tunnel after going downhill on the highway...

    Hi Chia san,

Nice to hear from you again.
Hope all is well with you.

    I need your advice.
Maybe Mariam could help out too.

I have booked the Berjaya resort in Bt Tinggi for night ie 07th feb 2008 for93 sing per roon per night.
Then I decided to extend another night but the reservation agent required120 sing per room per night.

Because I would like to visit the Batu Caves.
So I thought I might as well stay in a KL hotel the second night, ie 08th feb.

Question is will I be able to get 2 rooms that day, not forgetting that is CNY.
If so which hotel? price range about80 if not cheaper.
All I want is a room to sleep with attached bathroom and not forgetting A/C.

Can you kindly advise hotel, contact number and direction to it from Batu caves.

Preferably near the NS hwy, as I planned to return to Singapore from hotel.

Your help will be most appreciated.

BTW could we meet up on 08th night?

    Regards

    hi moey...

i would suggest that you stay in selesa resort (www.selesa.com.my) instead of coming to klumpur... you can go to batu caves in the mroning and then straight back to spore... if you stay in klumpur, you will have to back track to batu caves if you don't visit it on the way day from berjaya rsort...

    Hi Chia san,

My booking at the Berjaya resort was not successful, so I had no choice but
look for another place to sleep.
On searching I happened to come across the Wenworth hotel at J yew, which suit my budget and was close to the NS hwy. for 115 MR per night per room.

Thanks for your recommendation, may use it next time.
