First of all, I am very impressed by all the helpful hints about Kalkan posted on this site. Hopefully, you'll have some insight for me... We (my fiance and I) are planning to honeymoon in Kalkan in April/May of 2008, and we're planning to fly into and depart from Istanbul. What's the best (cheapest, quickest, or most enjoyable) way to travel from Istanbul to Kalkan and from Kalkan to Istanbul?
Cheapest is by bus,13 hrs around,over night,quickest fly to Dalaman,65min flight,2hr drive, most enjoyable?

hey there ; not train but car rental and overnight bus journey is all available.But to avoid long hours on bus perhaps you prefer flight to Dalaman ?(1 1/2 hours to Kalkan) On the other hand if your on honeymoon best place to stay in Kalkan is Villa Mahal , well its not the 'cheapest' for sure but such a romantic and special place to be.. enjoy turkey :)

cheapest, quickest, or most enjoyable way to travel to Kalkan is to take a plane to Dalaman airport. At that point you can take a bus to Kalkan(cheapest if you plan to stick around Kalkan) or you can rent a car (which could be expensive if you are on a budget. Compare to US, car rental prices in Turkey could be high as well as gas prices. Check car rental prices online before deciding on this option). Me and my husband had our honeymoon in Kalkan 10 years ago and I can say you have chosen the most romantic place on earth for your honeymoon big time. I wish you both happiness.
