What to do in Kaliningrad

by nickmbank Online Now Jan 21, 2012 at 8:46 AM

Hi - I'm off to Kaliningrad at the end of February (23 - 27), and i'm looking at things to do while I'm there. I've seen some decent museums, plus would love to spend some time at the Curonian spit. I've not heard much about what to do in the evenings though - does anyone have any suggestions? I also wondered if anyone had any ideas about what might be happening for Maslenitsa? Finally, has anyone heard of any ideas for adventure/extreme sports activities that happen out there? Am hoping to be able to change pace after a very cultural day! Thanks!

Hi Just to clarify: are you just planning to stay on the Russian side of the Curonian Spit, or would you be willing and/or able to venture onto the Lithuanian side? Regards Cathy

Thanks Catherine - I'm intending to stay on the Russian side - I've only got a single entry visa, so presume I'd not be able to get over to the Lithuanian side...

Sorry Nick - Haven't been to the Russian side, but if it is a fraction as beautiful as the Lithuanian side, you're in for a treat! For fear of stating the obvious, you have read the pages that other VTers have already compiled on Kaliningrad, haven't you? Otherwise I hope someone else can help you out with more specifics. Regards Cathy
