Planning a family reunion in Kona next Christmas. Stayed at the water's edge in June and found it very hot. Is it hot and hardly any trades in winter as well? Should we plan on going up the hill for the trades?
It is warm, but the winds do cool everything down by night that sometimes we need a sweater. I was there New years eve a time ago and we had big rain storms. Hope everything works out.

Thanks Tommy. How warm was it around New Year's? And were you down by the water or up higher?

Anytime between November and April is a great time to visit Hawaii since its warm but not hot. Bring a sweater since it can get fairly cool at night. The trades do seem to be steadier during the winter months, and even without them it doesn't get unbearable like it does during the days when the trades die in the summer.
