Hi I am planning to fly to juba in new sudan end of november how is the war situvation?how is the people frindly?any arm gangs are there?how is the food?health condition any deseas are spreding? please give me the information available i wil be there for 3-6 months regards shami
Um, the war ended in 2005...? There are some armed ehtnic struggles in part of South Sudan, but Juba is generally considered safe. very expensive though (the massive UN/international aid presence tends to ruin normal prices) Food, lodging etc is more expensive than it would be in neighboring Kenya or Uganda, and is often of worse quality. it is a third world place with most of the infrastructure still in rebuild, so get your health shots. Security situation might need re-assessment after the referendum in January, as no one can tell yet how peaceful it will be and whether the likely outcome will lead to more tensions. Again, while there are parts of Southern Sudan where there is a continuiung risk of violence, Juba is fairly safe.

Im in North Uganda now and all I hear about Juba are the prices of things there. I was told by several people you can pay one hundred dollars for a night in shed with a tin roof. Also heard theres about 15k of tarmac in the whole of the south. Lets hope itall stays peacfull after Jan 29.
