I am travelling here with my girlfriend for two weeks and the more i read about dom rep the more worried i get. How worried should i be about crime?

im trying to find an exciting and cheap destination for this summer for about 3 weeks and i am considering the dominican republic.

1. what's the weather like during the summer? ive read that it's monsoon season, so does that mean that it will be too rainy to enjoy it or is it still nice?

2. how is it for a solo woman to backpack there? I've read that men can be very flirty. Any experiences?

Any good experienced. I am arriving after midnight and did not want to spend a lot on hotel for just some hours. I can move to a better one next day. Is this one ok?
Any other hotels you recommend if this is not a good one?

How easy and expensive is it to get from Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, etc. I really don't want to rent a car but could like to know how to get from Santo Domingo and the resorts.

How much would a taxi from LaRomana Dominican Republic airport to Viva Wyndham Resort cost for 4 people? I heard it is 20 miles from the airport and is in Bayahibe? Also do you tip the driver? Thanks

I will be traveling to Punta Cana from May 23 - 28th 2013. I was wondering if I will mainly get rain? or will I enjoy the beautiful sun? any weather tip will help.

I am going alone in June to SD just to practice Spanish and meet some people. I want to lie on the beach but don't want to travel far from the city. I am thinking of staying at Buca Chica for 3 days and then to Zona Colonal for another 3 nights. Does that sound good? Any idea of good reasonable hotels ($80 max) that you recommend? I will arrive 11:30 pm, what's the best and cheapest way to make it to the hotel? I heard that it costs less thatn $5 for taxi from one side of town to the other. Why is it more expensive from the airport to the city? IS it safe to meet people on the street and make friends or there is a lot of scam people trying to get into your pocket?
Also, if I book in all inclusive hotel, does that mean three meal and drinks (Dominican food)?
