Joshua Tree or Anza Borrego

by Kevin72 Online Now Feb 19, 2008 at 5:34 AM

If you had two days, would you spend both days in Joshua Tree or one in Joshua Tree and then drive to Anza Borrego? I would have to get back to L.A.

At Anza Borrego they are still a little behind on rain. They have some flowers now and anticipate a peak during the first two weeks of March. Joshua Tree is not dependant on rain and is well worth two days at any time; they will also have a lot of flowers in March. You cannot do justice to Joshua Tree in one day. Try to at least see Hidden Valley, Keys View, and the Cholla Cactus Garden.

since you haven't put a thing on what you do or like on your homepage, how can we suspect youd like one or that other and you are timing your visit for the flowers to bloom.

One has a higher concentration of yucca trees than the other too.

I'd definitely recommend Anza Borrego. Even if the flowers are not blooming it is a lovely place. Borrego Palm Canyon, close to nthe excellent visitor center, is a fun little hike that will lead you to a hidden oasis. In the south part of the park, not far from Interstate 8, the Carrizo Badlands are worth a look.

    Hi All-
Like the first poster, I am planning a quick weekend getaway from LA. We're 2 active adults who like hiking and want to check out the flowers - blooming is in full effect! Thinking of driving to Joshua Tree Friday night, waking up in the morning, hiking, then heading to Anza Borrego Sat afternoon, stay there overnight, hike and walk around Sunday and head back to LA. Think its doable? Any suggestions on lodging (somewhat upscale and romantic would be cool) for either place??
