Our son (22) is traveling with a group from LA to Israel, then traveling on his own from Israel to Jordan to meet a young lady friend from Jordan. Then, will travel for 3 months returning from Israel.

I arrive in Amman at 5:30pm on a Tuesday and am wondering if there is enough time to get a taxi and then pay for the VIP crossing service to cross the border at King Hussein before the border closing time or if I will need to make hotel arrangements and travel Wednesday morning. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am trying to travel from Amman to Bethlehem. Thanks for any advice!

Hello, I am planning to travel during 9 days in April along Jordan and I am looking for a reliable guide /company, not expensive, with a trekking program from Dana to Aqaba, visiting the most of important cultural attractions.
Another question, the flight from Istanbul to Amman arrives at 3:00 a.mm into the Amman airport. Anyone can advise me which is the best way to arrive to Amman or Madaba.

Hello, from the notes I have found it seems that the petrol stations in Jordan are generally serviced. Is it local ettiquete to tip the service provider and if so how much?

Hello, anyone have tips on finding a football match to see in Jordan? Will be in Amman a few days but around the country for 2 weeks and would love to take the family to a match, provided it would be safe for children. Not sure how to find a schedule and/or buy tickets. Comments welcome.

Update:  It looks like there is a match 02/04/13 in Amman at the International Stadium with Al Faisaly vs. the UAE Team.  Does anyone know if tickets to a match like this are impossible to get or cost prohibitive?

I was wondering if someone could tell me how long it would take to travel from the Dead Sea to Bethany and Mt. Nebo. We look like to do a morning/half day trip before returning to the Dead Sea and then crossing the border into Isreal. We are looking for the cheapest flight from Amsterdam to Cairo and back. Royal Jordanian Air gave us a good price with a lay over in Amman. Now Petra is a destination we like to go for years and we are thinking of skipping the flight from Amman to Cairo in order to go to Petra. We will arrange our own trip to Petra and from there to Nuweiba. Than to Cairo and from Cairo back to Amsterdam on the ticked we booked previously. I have tried to book a single trip to Amman and a single trip from Cairo to Amsterdam but this will cost me 4 times the amount the return trip from Amsterdam to Cairo via Amman will cost. Is it correct that on Saturdays, most if not all shops are closed in Jerusalem? Buses and taxis as means of transportation do not operate on these days? Does that mean the entrance to Holy Land is closed on a Saturday? Thanks for any information and advise.
