Hello, am interested to find out if anyone had any insight into areas of Jordan an American family traveling throughout Jordan should consider avoiding for safety reasons. Would Irbid be on that list? Thanks!
Jordan is safe for American families everywhere but be vigilant. I have not heard of too many Americans being killed or kidnapped in Jordan, the people are very friendly.

Jordan is a very safe place with very low levels of crime and almost no acts of terrorism. People are very friendly and the authorities are very keen to make sure every tourist is safe. When we were driving about the police stopped our car a few times, not to harass me, but to make sure I was happy and safe. Once they were sure, we were waved on with a "welcome to Jordan!" smile and shout.
You should check with your embassy, though, for the latest information. The situation in Syria could destablise the country, especially with all the refugees pouring across the border.
