Jordan Direct Tours

by dfb724 Online Now Feb 27, 2005 at 9:36 PM

Does anyone have any information on Jordan Direct Tours? I am currently corresponding with this company via e-mail regarding a 6/7 night tour of Jordan in May/June 2005. I've noticed other inquiries on this board regarding this company, however; there have been no replies. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

I actually booked a tour with them that starts tomorrow. It seems that their advice regarding hiring a driver as opposed to self-drive was well founded, at least according to the replies I received on this forum! They lady I spoke to there sounded nice over the phone and did not ask for pre-payment. I will let you know how it goes in about a week's time.

I am flying home tomorrow, but still trying to take in all the experiences of the past few days. I would like anyone reading this to know that Jordan is an absolutely lovely country with beautiful people. I cannot recall the last time I felt so comfortable visiting a country. I am pleased to say that Jordan Direct Tours' services were superb. My driver Ahmad was the perfect gentleman- he was well informed but thankfully allowed me to take in the scenery without talking all the time. The traffic in and around Amman was brutal, so I am glad I had not opted for self-drive. Petra and Wadi Rum were simply incredible. My desert guide was equally great- drinking a fresh cup of minted tea in the middle of the quiet expanse of the desert at sunset was a life-altering experience, it actually brought tears to my eyes. The only downside to my tour was arriving at Amman airport without luggage, but the tour company delivered it to me as soon as it arrived (all the way to Kerak) without charging me extra which was a kind gesture from their part. Jordan is simply a gem, it surpassed my wildest expectations.

Thanks for the update on Jordan Direct Tours. I'll be using their services at the end of May. Your trip sounds great and now I'm incredibly excited to start mine. I will be taking the ferry from Nuweiba, Egypt to Aqaba, Jordan and spending 7 days in Jordan before continuing my excursion in Egypt. I will also be visiting Wadi Rum and Petra. I'd love to hear more details of your trip, if you don't mind.

Hi! I had been trying to email Jordan Direct Tours for the past week but have not heard from them. Two emails had been sent so far. Do they take a while to get back to you? I am hoping to visit Jordan in late May for about 7/8 days, and will be a single female travelling independently.

Naruto: I originally contacted Jordan Direct Tours (JDT)in January 2005 and received an immediate response from someone named Rana. While putting together the tour, the JDT representative responded to my inquiries within 1 day. However, late last month, it took about a week for a response to a question. Rana from JDT apologized for the delay in responding to my inquiry and said that they were very busy with requests for Easter travel. apparently, this time of the year (Easter holidays) is extremely busy for them.

I have been arranging a holiday with Jordan Direct Tours that will be happening in May/June 2005. Rana has been very quick to reply and very flexible about changes to my itinerary. Thanks to Sally Suede I am now very reassured, it looks like Jordan Direct could be very good. I am keeping my fingers crossed !! When I return in June I will report back. I hope your holiday goes well. Guy Beeches

I'll be in Jordan from May 28 thru June 3, 2005 (insha allah). I am also very encouraged by SallySuede's report on Jordan Direct Tours. I too will have my fingers crossed that everything goes well with my plans. I'll breathe easier when I am enjoying a cup of mint tea in Wadi Rum. Guy B. and Naruto, I hope you both have a great time in Jordan. I look forward to hearing about your trips.

Well I'm just back from a tour arranged through Jordan Direct (a subsidiary of Jordan Eco-Tours) and my boyfriend and I had a fantastic time. It was our first visit and we were very impressed. We were met at the airport on arrival by a representative of JDTours who helped us with arrival formalities. We then transferred to our hotel. Next morning we met Tayseer who was to be our driver and guide for the rest of the week. He was friendly, professional and perhaps most importantly, knowledgeable. We spent the first 3 nights in Amman, transferring to Petra for 3 nights, 1 night in Wadi Rum and returning to Amman for our final night. The highlight for me was in Wadi Rum, drinking tea brewed over an open-fire whilst watching the sun set. Magical. That said, everyday brought incredible views and sights. We couldn't get enough so hope to go back next year, perhaps for a trekking holiday.

I have just returned from a week in Jordan (starting 29 May 2005) with Jordan Direct and as promised I am reporting back on how I found them. Jordan Direct were brilliant. Our driver Raeed was very friendly and knowledgable, always on time when collecting us, gave us lots of tips on what to see and where to eat, bought us fruit and water and wouldnt accept a dinar in payment, was a careful driver and always made sure our vehicle was clean. Jordan Direct met us on time at Amman airport, booked all our hotels, and at each hotel our guide checked us in. I feel that Jordan Direct gave us a first class service. The only criticism I have of Jordan Direct is that throughout the booking of the holiday they quoted cost in US$, they handed me an invoice in Jordan which was in US$, but when it came to actually paying they wanted Jordan Dinars. This conversion US$ - JD in Jordan meant that the real cost of the holiday for me went up by about £50 GBP. They tell me that in future they will be telling customers that US$ is for guidance only and payment will be in JD. Despite this problem Jordan Direct gave us a great holiday and I would not hesitate to use them again. Cheers, Guy Beeches
