    • Date Nite ideas

by Janine-84 Online Now Feb 19, 2014 at 2:18 AM

I'm looking for a nice idea for a date night.

Something "different" and interesting. Not the normal sit down and have dinner.
Me and my fiance like to be on the move and see as much as we can in one night.

Something that we can do from 7 to late......or any time in between.

      Any ideas?

      Hello all!

I plan to catch a minibus taxi to Maseru and Mbabane, in two separate occasions, early in the morning from nearby Park Station and wonder if one could *doze off* in Park Station?

    • Where to buy Shosholoza Meyl train ticket?

by tezzy Online Now Dec 12, 2013 at 7:42 PM

I am planning a couple of train trips, namely, from Johannesburg to Bloemfontein and back (return ticket) and from Komatipoort to Johannesburg (one way) in January.

My question is where can I find their Ticket offices? I am arriving at O. R. Tambo International Airport and hope to be able to buy tickets right there. Do I need to go to Park Station after all?

My e-mail to bounces back right away and question in its inquiry form on their website is unanswered...

    • The location of Mozambique Embassy in Johannesburg and opening hours, fee and same-day processing

by tezzy Online Now Dec 5, 2013 at 6:04 AM

      Hi all,

I am planing to obtain visa to Mozambique in Johannesburg as I heard the same-day processing can be done at a reasonable cost (USD20?) and am sadly a bit confused with the opposing information as to the location of Mozambique Embassy.

      18 Hurlingham Road, Sandton
      252 Jepee Street

      Which is correct?

Info for opening hours, fees and tips are much appreciated!

    • Minibus to Mafikeng from Johannesburg and then over the border to Lobatse, Botswana

by tezzy Online Now Dec 5, 2013 at 5:30 AM

      Hi all,

      My questions are as follows:
      1. I understand many minibus taxis to other cities in South Africa and the neighboring countries depart from Park Station. Is Park Station a railway station, not a bus terminal? Exactly from where would I catch minibus then?
      2. Does minibus taxi run to Mafikeng? How early should I be there? 4am? 7am? Or even 12 noon?

    • Timings and cost of Underground Mining Tour and Gold Pour

by rahul99rocks Online Now Oct 5, 2013 at 12:38 PM

I am visiting Gold Reef City on 29th Dec (Sunday) and want to experience the Underground Mining Tour and Gold Pour. So, is there any particular time for the mining tour and Gold Pour? If yes, then what are they? I also want to know the duration of the tour.

As its a Sunday, should I buy tickets online or are they easily available at the counter? When checked for online tickets, it gives the date and the time as 9.30am but I am planning to visit at 12.30pm. So will the tickets be valid in that case? Can the mining tour tickets also booked online?

As I am spending only one day in Johannesburg, I dont want to mess up travelling without proper information. Any help and advice would be highly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance.

Hi again guys.As you might have read my previous posts,i am a young student at Rlabs, and Rlabs is originally from Cape Town.So what Rlabs did was that they opened a branch or should i say a learning institution in Johannesburg, where i am from.So my goal and ambition is to go to Cape Town to further myself in my studies.I have been given advice on where i should accommodate myself to stay. But one of the most important questions i wanted to ask,is Capetown beaches the best in South-Africa? and is Cape Towns weather unpredictable like johannesburg's weather? because one minute its hot,the next min its cold or it starts raining. So could anybody please fill me with information regarding to my questions.

by CaroMajo Online Now Aug 20, 2013 at 12:37 PM

Hello!! I tried to find this answer, but couldn't :(. I wonder if I go there near the end of March or beginning of April, if that would be a good idea or not). I've read many blogs saying that this is a rainny season, so animals can't be seen easily, is that true? During these 2 weeks, would be enough to stay 1 week in Jh and 1week in cape town? Or do you recommend another option?
Thanks in advance for your support!

    • American Woman Traveling Alone in Johannesburg

Hi. I'm a 52 year old woman who has been asked to do a 3 week assignment in Joburg by the company I work for. Could you please let me know how safe it will be for me to be there alone and also how easy it would be for me to get up to speed on driving on the left side of the road and getting around the city (assuming I rent a car with a GPS)?

I am feeling a bit nervous about this business trip as I have never traveled outside of Europe and the U.S. on business before. Are my concerns unwarrented?

Thanks, in advance, for any advice and feedback you can share with me!

    • 2 or 3 days in Johannesburg?

by GarethMorkel Online Now Aug 14, 2013 at 9:04 PM

I am travelling to SA for the first time and plan on spending 2 or 3 days at Johannesburg. Firstly, I should note that for this trip we will not be visiting Kruger; as time instead is being allotted for Cape Town, Garden Route, Durban and Drakensberg (I have family in CT and Durban) - I am instead doing a couple of days in Addo and a night in a private game reserve close by.

      Here are the following activities I'd like to do in Joburg;

      - Soweto
      - Apartheid Museum
      - Lesedi Cultural Village and;
      - Crade of Humankind

Do you think to do these 4 activites 2 days would be required or 3? The chief reason I'd like to know is because if I can squeeze it into 2 then perhaps I could add an extra day in Cape Town. If 3 days would be better then I don't particularly mind doing that either,

      Kind Regards!

Hi, I am goin to Joburg for the first time. Iwould like to know wheter it is necessary to have a rental car or not? Since I would like to go to Lion Park, Sun City, Monte Casino etc and I do not know if those places are all close to each other and you could just get a hotel close by or if it would make more sense to get a car. Alternatively how does the purblic transport in Joburg work.? Does it reach a lot of places or only certain places? Is it save?

I just heard about tuk tuks being introduced in J'burg recently. Has anyone used them? Do they have meters by which we know how much to pay?
We were planning on taking the hop on and hop off buses, but after that tour we want to get to Montecasino, would it be sensible to hire a tuk tuk to and from Montecasino?

What to do for one day in Johannesburg?

by vpas Online Now Apr 30, 2013 at 1:13 AM

We have one full day in Johannesburg. I looked around at city tours but did not find anything interesting. I do not want to walk around Museums or residences of past leaders. Are there any other suggestions? We wish to have a quick ride through the city and then do some off beat place if there is any in Johannesburg. Any suggestions on what we could do will be helpful.
The tour that I came across for half a day covering Johannesburg and Soweto costs 600 rands per person. Would it be cheaper to hire a cab for the whole day?

      Taxi fare

by vpas Online Now Apr 30, 2013 at 1:06 AM

How much would it cost to go from the airport to House on York(7 York Street, Kensington, South Bedfordview, 2047 Johannesburg)? My hotel suggests that it is best for them to arrange a pick up which would cost anywhere between 560 to 600 rands for the four of us. Is this correct? In the past we have found that taking a taxi from the airport is cheaper than arranging through the hotel. Please let me know.
      Thank you,

      Hi folks!
I need some information about this area. We are planning a tour starting from Johannesburg, ending in Cape Town 2 weeks in October. We want to visit Okavango, Moremi, Victoria Falls, Kruger Park and we need an advice about a good and reliable agency which can arrange us a package tour. Since we are 8 we cannot take the risk to arrange all the hotels and the tours by ourselves so we need a local assistance.
Is there anyone to help us about recommending a good company? Or do you have any other recommendations?

      Thanks in advance.
