I think in order to give you suggestions, you would have to indicate your interests. Johannesburg is a big city with lots going on so I am sure someone could direct you given some more information from you.

Hi As Diane says, it's impossible to make recommendations on how best you might spend your time in Jo'burg without knowing anything about you, your interests and your budget. Can I suggest that you start by perusing this tip in which I've put together a number of possible itineraries, which you can customise to match your interests (the tip is too big to cut and paste here, and that would also lose the hyperlinks to the tips on each attraction): "Getting older Moscow" - Estates Tip by Bastet_ A nice thing to do on a Sunday morning is to wander around the Rosebank Flea market - this is also a good area to stay in, as it's linked to the airport via the Gautrain rapid rail link. Bear in mind that next Saturday (16 June) is a public holiday - Children's Day - so check opening times for museums and the like with this in mind. I would suggest that if you plan to visit Soweto, this is not a good day to do this, as 16 June was the date of the Soweto Uprising, and there are usually events to commemorate this (which can be crowded and somewhat disorganised). Usually if people are visiting over a winter weekend, I'd recommend the quintessentially South African experience of going to a rugby game, but this falls within the three week mid season break for the Super rugby as the international rugby teams are playing test matches. South Africa are playing England at Coco Cola (formerly Ellis Park) on 16th - I don't think it's sold out yet, so that might be worth investigating. If you are a sports fan, I'd also suggest that it would be an enjoyable experience to catch one of the rugby games in a sports bar with a big screen TV (the matches are in the later afternoon): South Africans are fanatical about their rugby! By the way, make sure you bring warm clothes that you can layer - yesterday's high was 10 centigrade, and it was well below zero last night ... brrrr!!!! Hope this helps, and please feel free to revert if you have any more specific queries. Regards Cathy
