Hello friends -- Please help me zero in here: I'm eager to choose a great safari experience (two nights) for myself and (older) teenage daughter NEXT WEEK - not too terribly far outside Jo'burg (three hours or so, I'm thinking). From the research I've done, it looks as though the most promising destination may be the Madikwe Reserve. Opinions, please? And if you agree, can you recommend an especially enchanting lodge? Over-the-top luxury isn't my first goal - but we do appreciate rustic charm, clean accommodations, great food, friendliness, a well-guided game drive and well, you know, that whatever-it-is that makes a safari experience memorable. It would also be SPLENDID if such a lodge offered ground transport to and from Jo'burg (though not exactly a fretful American, I've never gotten used to driving on the left side of the road). This is a once-in-a-lifetime gift to me daughter, so counsel from the wise will be most appreciated.
Thanks so much!
