cycle /walking hitchiking partner Japan 2012

by cantwaittogetoutthr Online Now Jul 22, 2012 at 12:55 AM

I'm visiting Japan from mid August to end of November. I'm looking for a travel buddy to join me for cycling/ walking and or hitch hiking. I'm 26 female and from England. Let me know if anybody is interested by replying to this ad. I have all the maps and equipment for cycling and camping and it would be great if we could do some wild camping to save money but it's not essential. Happy and safe travels to you all = )

I would love to join that tour, but this is right at the time of year when i need to work and i am busy tour cycling and spending all my money now in Malaysia. But if you plan to cycle Vietnam then you should get a hold of the book that british cyclist Josie Dew wrote about her cycling tour of Japan. You might allready know her but, but if not then she's the queen of british tour cyclists and have written some very good and humorous books about it. here is a link to her website: http://www.josiedew.com/

A friend of mine hitchhiked from the top of Hokkaido all the way to Kyushu several years ago. Said it was a great adventure. He has also cycled all the way around Shikoku, but he did it in 2 stints. It is great to go and I think it isn't that dangerous. Just be careful of who picks you up as always. Japanese people, especially in the countryside are very friendly. As for camping, you can do that a lot. He camped in parks in the countryside and so on. Just be very aware of your surroundings and be out of the park before the morning rush hour. You should be okay. Note that I cannot guarantee that you will be okay doing these things. It is all to be done at your own risk.
