I wonder if anyone could give me any info what so ever on the Karatsu festival taking place in about a months time. I will be in Japan at that time and would like to visit the festival because it sounds fun. But what time does it start? Where in the town is the parade and on what day/days? Any help is appreciated! Thank you.
Hi,Malena!! Welcome back to Japan :-) Well, to be honest, I haven't visited Karatsu yet... But I will write here what I saw on Karatsu City Tourist Bureau homepage. Karatsu Kunchi Festival Date:November 2nd, 3rd, 4th (the most exciting day= November 3rd) Time:November 2nd=19:30(7:30pm) through 22:00(10:00pm) November 3rd=9:30(9:30am) through 16:30(4:30pm) November 4th=10:30(10:30am) through 16:30(4:30pm) Map(I'm sorry I couldn't find an English map... here is a map written in Japanese) karatsu-city.jp/kouhou/kuras... You see red arrows... it indicates the parade's path on November 3rd. They start at 9:30 in the morning from the Karatsu Shrine. You see the red time on the map... it indicates the time when the parade passes on November 3rd. It seems, the parade will pass the Karatsu railway station at about 11:00 on November 3rd. About green arrow and time are about November 2nd. About blue arrow and time are about November 4th. Hope this helps! Ayurin :-)
