Mikurajima or Miyakejima

Has anyone been to either Mikurajima or Miyakejima? If so, what were your impressions? I'm a bit enamored of the idea of snorkeling with dolphins. However, this is my first trip to Japan, and I'll only be there for eight days total, so I'm trying the balance the idea with that of seeing more of Tokyo and Kyoto. I'll be visiting the last week on June.
