hi i am going india to at the end of november and im from the UK. you can get the visa in 5 days through postal ways. get the form from the post office or download it from various websites. then fill it in and include 2 passport sized photographs. then send it off along with your passport and they post it back to you. i think you can get a 3 day service as well. just one thing the visa will last 6 months from the date it is issued not when you travel. i am going to apply for mine about a month before i go. i hope this helps a bit.

Ireland is not the UK. The correct place to look for visa info is on the embassy website relevant to your country. Here's the Indian Embassy in Ireland website: indianembassy.ie/app/opencms... It states: >The normal time for processing Tourist and Business Visa for applications made at the Embassy is 5 working days for Irish passport holders and 10 working days for non-Irish nationals normally resident in Ireland. Postal visa applications may require an additional five working days for processing. These processing times apply only in cases where the original application is complete in all respects, with all required documentation and information. Please note that the processing times apply only for Tourist and Business visas and only for Irish and non-Irish passport holders normally resident in Ireland.

As with all visa applications for anywhere, don't cut it too fine. Allow ample time to get your visa processed.

Mmmmmm regarding the online Visa for India- I gave up..it was just too full of red tape. And the website is badly set up. Having been to India now a few times, I decided to hand over the problem to my travel agent, who is really efficient and has sorted all this for me before. Since the MUmbai attacks getting a visa has become much more of a lengthier process.LOTS of new questions. My visa took 2 weeks. So I agree with Leics- don't wait until the last moment.

Be sure to get the visa photos which are slightly bigger than passport ones. They wont accept your applicaton with the wrong size. Happy travelling,Laney
