We are returning to Ephesus and it will be on Orthodox Easter Sunday. On the last trip we took a dolmus from Kusadasi to Ephesus and wondered if there will be any dolmus on Easter Sunday to rely on for transportation to Ephesus and Selcuk. If not, then I need to make arrangements for private transport. Any other special circumstances that might revolve around being in Ephesus on Easter Sunday? Thanks

I'm planning my first trip to Turkey in May on my own and I haven't got much time. I need to know if its possible to do this part of the itinerary like this: From Izmir to Selcuk to visit Efeso, catch an evening bus to Pamukkale, spend the night there and see the sights the following morning. (Aphrodisias and the Pamukkale travertines). That very night we need to take a bus to Marmaris to catch the ferry to Rhodes. Is it too tight a schedule? Thanks for any piece of advice! Julia

First time visitors to Turkey - 8 nights in Istanbul. Thought Izmir side trip would be a nice contrast to the big city. October 11-14 ( 4 nights)... Thought of going to Izmir, Cesme, and Ephesus. Any recommendations for itinerary? Enjoy visiting historical places, local foods, visiting friends' family in Cesme....thought of using Izmir as home base. Any hotel recommendations? Car rental? Is it better or safer to take taxis/buses? Turkish or other airlines to consider from Istanbul? I am planning to go Izmir in 3rd week of November & booked a hotel called Radisson blu @ Cesme. Do u think it's a good hotel & good place to go? But it looks like its v far from the airport. So I was thinking if I stay @ kusadasi as I will get free shuttle from airport by Atlasjet airline!! (I hope they still have shuttle @ that time of my stay) Plz give me advice!!! We have been to Ephesus twice before with guides- terrific experience. This time we want to go on our own from cruiseport in Kusadasi. I plan to go to ATM in Kusadasi before catching the dolmus, but I am having trouble finding current prices. I think maybe the entrance fee is up to 25TL per person at Ephesus. Can anyone verify this? What is the current entry fee for the Terrace Houses? What is the current rate to take the dolmus from Kusadasi to Ephesus? ( I realize it lets off near the bottom gate) Can I walk from the port to the bus stop to catch the Dolmus to Ephesus or do I need to take a dolmus to get from the port to the Central bus station to catch the Kusadasi-Selcuk dolmus? I want to have enough TL, but do not want to have alot left over. I believe it is respectful to pay in local currency, but I can't figure out how much and I believe they do not take credit cards, right? Thanks.

Hi, I'll be having my trip by the last week of May and have EPHESUS as my number one of to-see-list. I understand that from Istanbul there is a flight to Izmir which is roughly more than an hour. Would be willing to go there in the morning and back to Istanbul. QUESTION: 1.) From Izmir airport how will i reach to ephesus? 2.) We would like to spend some time at the market in Selcuk before we leave for Ayvalik. Will there be frequent buses travelling this route on a Saturday? Hi! We are in Izmir for one day in April. As mentioned, we have been to Ephesus and Pergamon before. We have also visited Istanbul (as an example of the mosques, the bazaar that we have seen). We would really appreciate some suggestions for how to spend our day in Izmir? We are a young family. Are there more Christian/Biblical sights nearby? How far from Cruise Port and time wise to bus station to get bus to Epheus. Lots of people said not safe on buses so would we bebetter to get train. Private tours too expensive and I read somewhere you can hire audio guides very cheap.Can anyone recommend a good restaurant at Selcuk.

Dear all, I'm coming to Izmir on 18-23 Oct 2011 and accompanying a friend who's photographer to shoot "7 churches of revelation" (Izmir, Alasehir, Bergama, Akhisar, Laodicea, Sart, Efes). Since we only have 5 days, we plan to rent a (cheap) car with a driver/guide. My questions: - Do you have any recommendation on where can we get rental car + driver/guide? - How much is it per day? - Is it possible to go a whole day and back to Izmir every day but cover all 7 churches(we already book 5 nights in Izmir)?
