Where is the best place to buy a bottle of wine in Izmir. I'm only here for two days, staying at the Hilton,and would prefer to walk over.

    At every corner, at every shop and at every supermarket you can buy your bottle. Turkey is a wine paradise. wine is expencive in Turkey because of the high taxes of the ruling fundamentalist islamic party. There are many firms that produce wine. Izmir and suroundings is the land of grapes. The famous sultanin grow there. Unfortunately there is no taster. better ask the chief wine-kellner of Hilton for an advice. take a look: http://www.winesofturkey.org/
