Hi Everyone! I'm actually going to Zihuatanejo, not Ixtapa, but there is no forum for Zihuatanjeo. What is tipping like, especially in a hotel? How much do you tip a made, a baggage carrier, etc Also, in a restaurant, if the tip is not included? Thanks!
Hi, please see my answer to your posting above. You can get extensive info about Zihuatanejo from www.zihuatanejo.net Tip like you would in the US; we tipped 15 - 20% in restaurants; we also gave our taxi driver from the airport 20 pesos which he was really suprised about. The people there are gracious and don't act like they are expecting tips, but we tip as they deserve it.

Most people tip 20 pesos per day for the maid. PLEASE tip in pesos as many of these people do not have a bank account and my have trouble exchanging US dollars.

Saludos Oslocairo. You are in a Tourist enviornment, and tips reflect the quality of service that you will receive. Go for 10% for just run of the mil service. Do 18% if you want to make an impresion or have received OUTSTANDING beyond the call of duty service. They call La Ropa beach because during the 16th to 17th century a Chinnese JUNK (boat) drifted into this beach and their clothe got soked so the locals helped them dry it on the beach.

Thanks Julio! I'll add that to my trip planner. I like the beach history. Now I can try and impress my friends when we arrive by telling them how it was named. :-)
