hi - i went and did a quick search for the florence to rome trip - there are so many options but the cheapest seems to be 17-15 euro for an ordinaria train that takes 3 and a half hous approx and leaves at 13-16 fares on quicker trains seem to be up to 49 euro

Hi, try this link trenitalia.com/trenitalia.ht... It's in Italian, but you can see the price for regional train ticket. In my experience, ticket price for regional train of Venezia (Venice) to Firenze (Florence) is 24,26 e. But it only run 3 times a day. The rest are the price for FRECCIARGENTO type which is 43 e for 2nd class. I hope this will help you.

Yes, I believe we paid something in the neighborhood of 30'something Euros for the Florence to Rome ticket and it was a regular ticket, not first class. Can't help you Venice to Florence as we broke it up between many stops along the way, Siena, Bologna, Verona, etc.

17-15 was a mini price - some trains had two prices - base and mini i just googled and clicked the all solutions button i think to get the mini price you have to book a bit ahead - and get lucky

If you are strapped for cash take the Regionale trains they are slower and stop a lot but the are less expensive. I kind of like them sometimes as you see a bit more and run the chance of meeting some real people. As with many things you will have to trade time for cash. Good Luck, Randy

To find the lowest fare when I am in Italy I just go to the automatic machine and select my destination it will then present you with all the options. If you look closely you will see that the duration of the trip goes up and the price goes down. If you are completely lost go to the ticket counter and ask for the lowest fare to your destination. I have found the ticket agents very helpful in most cases. This works better if you go to the station at less than peak times. I never book online when traveling in Italy unless we are using a sleeper train. Hope that helps, Randy

I checked today when I was at the train station in Bergamo and it goes a little something like this: Florence (Firenze) to Rome (Roma Termini) is 17.35€. Venice to Florence (Firenze) is 24€ (this is the very cheapest so takes the longest. Otherwise you are looking at around 35€). Hope this helps!! Enjoy your trip! Hayley :)
