I would prebook a taxi via the web. If you've not been to Istanbul before you will find the city is well organised with excellent public transport but for both of my visits I still prefer to know that the initial hotel transfer is sorted out. The driver won't be waiting around very long for you as they will know which flight you are arriving on and if it's delayed they won't come to their port early. If by some unfortunate circumstance you arrive very late, the driver will be there.

If you want to do it cheap then you can take the tram. It runs from the airport and you can get to Taksim with one change. It´s very easy to deal with and fast and efficient.

Contact your hotel and ask them whether they arrange transfers from the airport. When we visited Istanbul, our hotel arranged the transfer for a fee, the shuttle was waiting for us as we exited customs we saw a man waving a notice with our name.

If you have limited budget, take the HAVATAS shuttle bus. They have a few destinations and Taksim is one of them. Here is the link : havatas.com/en/coach.aspx?i=... If you want a hassle free travel, take a taxi as suggested.

Ataturk Airport to Kabatas (just change tram at Zeytinburnu station) and from Kabatas to Taksim (finicular). very easy, cheapest and fastest. if u need more info ask directly to istanbul municipality official twitter @ibbbeyazmasa They can give u all info with direct message service too regards
