I plan to go to Istanbul because of shopping. I plan to buy a little bigger of jewelry, for example 100 necklaces, 50 bracelets, 50 earrings, an scarves. Which is the best place to shopping this ? Thank a lot :)
If you're talking about bulk purchases of the same items you can do a search for wholesale distributors. If you want to pick and choose individual items try the Grand Bazaar. Everything you want you will find there. Perhaps you can find a wholesale seller there.

Turks are very superstitious ppl., at least the ones in Kapali Carshi ( Grand Bazzar) best is to do windows shopping first, than, show at the places you want to buy first thing in the morning, just after they open and barter/ haggle. Most of the Shop owners will not let you leave without purchise as is not " hairli" or good luck, so they can lower the price for you just to do business . Staying that you are from Serbia/Montenegro might help but not much, that kind of thing is good for Tunisia. On my recent travels there i was asked where i come from-Answer Macedonia, got me lower starting price for barter. Same item for my German friend was 40% more expensive to Start with.. But by all means try! Good luck. Srecno!

OK. 2 best places The Grand Bazaar and The Spice Bazaar. Thanks. I hope to go well like You. Maybe some more experience with shopping ?

General rule for purchases: NEVER pay more than 50% of the asking price, so start much lower when you make your first offer. There will be drama but it's all part of the fun.

I am very surprised that everyone is recommending Grand Bazaar. In my recent trip I found that the Grand Bazaar was pricier. The shops outside are much cheaper. However I found the Grand Bazaar a good place to buy fake brand jeans. The Spice Bazaar is good for souvenirs but the spice itself is priced very high. I found dry fruits and spices very cheap in the asian side and in big shops such as Carrefour. Hope this helps, Have a good trip.

Prices are high only if you agree to pay them.

We can not decide this for you. You will know once you are there and once you start to bargain for the jewelry pieces you like.

A lot of answers have been given and generally they direct you to Grand Bazaar, but as a local I would go for jewellery shops out of Grand Bazaar for better deals and more bargaining power. In Grand Bazaar, the high rents and ever-coming tourists make the prices go higher. However, a jewellery shop outside this tourist magnet will be more welcoming and give better discounts for wholesale. I would say you first take some prices from different shops and after that you go for the real buy. It may be time consuming but also rewarding. You can check my Istanbul pages for some useful tips.

So, on the spice b. can be find other things, not only spices :) Ok. I will try there. It is dangerous to go alone in Istanbul?

It is not dangerous to go solo. However, you have to be careful and alert as much as you would in any crowded metropolis. Do not carry a lot of cash with you. Do not keep all the money in the same pocket or wallet. Beware of pickpockets in crowded areas. Stay out of dark alleys and side streets. I guess if you visited New York city, you would receive the same tips :)

100 necklaces, 50 bracelets, 50 earrings....... Woaw... I suppose gifts you wanna give to your freinds at the return. I think you are not talking about made in gold ones. Most of them are coming from China and wholesale mini companies are all around grandbazaar and Tahtakale area. Maybe u also check ebay or other web sites too. Turkish ebay called
gittigidiyor.com
So many big mals and all of them have bijouterie shops where they sell this kind of gifts.

I think of the fine jewelry, not gold. :) I know the sites and that the goods are from Chine, *but I hope to be able to find something Yours, authentic, unusual...* I know that the wholesales can be found in Laleli, in Ordu cd, istikal street...

I recommend you to visit Caferaga Medresesi. This is a place converted into workshops and you can find handmade gift as well as handmade jewelery made by women working there. I think they will make unique presents. You can google it and you will find more information about the place.
