Howdy all, My mother and her sister are visiting from Oz in February and are really keen to see the Isle of Skye. I;ve been once before but it was in summer. If we catch the train up to Mallaig, and the ferry across, how do you suggest we proceed with transport? I was thinking of hiring a car but I'm nervous about driving if the roads are going to be icy or covered in snow. If we don't hire a car, is there any other frequent and reliable transport we could use to get around?????
Here's a pretty good pdf bus timetable of skye. Page 14 is a map of the island showing bus routes. rapsons.com/images/Area%20bo... It looks like the island is well covered, and you should be able to get around just fine. have a great time and visit Raasay too if you can.

No problems with Skye in December with the modern road bridge. The drive up from Glasgow may get difficult some spots... more
