Puerto de Mogan in the south has the most stabile temperatures in the world, it rarely rains, is seldom windy, and has a nice, little beach. You can get good local food at a few of the many restaurants. Prices are higher than other areas of the island, and there isn't much night life, quiet after 23.00. Beautiful place. But the best places for local, cheaper food is in the north and northwest, places like San Nicolas. The price to pay is more rain, lower temperatures, and more wind. You can read everything about Gran Canaria on www.canariajournalen.no. Use Google Translate from Norwegian.

Walk down the main street Avda Tirajana til you get to Riu Palace hotel. Walk thru the arch and keep going and wow you will find the most amazing sand dunes that go on for miles n miles n miles!! be a bit careful as there are sometimes naked people having sex in dunes as v popular with swingers and gay guys!! But they're not everywhere, just hidden amongst trees and in dips of dunes so you can easily go with kids and be ok. Big gay scene in Yumbo centre and big swingers scene as lots of clubs like fun4all.com and grancanariaswingersclubetern... and also naturists too at Magnolias centre near maspalomas
