I am travelling to the island in November with my husband. We like the rural landscape rather than beaches. What are the highlights for this kind of trip over four days? We would be looking for locals restaurants and tapas bars rather than tourist ones. Can anyone recommend? We are staying in La Aldea de san Nicolas. We speak quite a lot of Spanish and have lived in Lanzarote for 7 years.
Yes I am replying to my own post!
This if for anyone who is interested in going rural and thinking of staying in San Nicolas.
San Nicolas has no tourist trade and it relys on the tomatoe growing business. So the countryside is covered in miles of plastic taurpaulin. It was a mistake to book a hotel in such a region. The people who live there are friendly and make the most of life there, surrounded by the mountains. It takes a two hour drive over mad harpin bends to get there and out of there. Great if you like that.
