      Itineraries

Basque Country May 5, 2013 at 7:31 AM

As I posted before, I will go to Bilbao this summer for 5 days.
Could you suggest me itineraries? I hope you will consider that I will be with my 2 boys at the age of 6 (they are twins).

Also, I wonder if it is easy to rent and drive a car in Bilbao Area. Is it easy to park around major attractions?

      Bermeo-Mundaka

Basque Country May 12, 2013 at 3:17 AM

Hi) Me and my friend are planning the trip to Basque region in September and will stay in Mundaka for 5 nights before we'll move to Bilbao: she plans to join serfing courses, but I'm interested in walking. The point for me is Oma valley: caves, animated forest and birdwatching (despite it's not the best season for BW). But I can't find the easy way to get to Oma valley by public transport ( i don't drive and I don't bike). The bus takes too much as it makes a long rout. As I can see, there are several taxi companies in Bermeo, but there are no any tarifs or detailed information. Could you advise me with the shortest way by public transport or how much will take me taxi: f.e. to pick me up at Mundaka (Bermeo) to the entrance of Oma valley, and pick me up from this place back to Mundaka 4-5 hours later (I guess it's enough for walking to animated forest and for visiting caves). The same question about birdwatching. Thank you in advance, Lena.

      Beach around Bilbao

Basque Country May 4, 2013 at 7:35 PM

I have a plan to visit Bilbao this summer. And I will go to the beach with my children. I worried that if I swim with my children and there is no one to watch my belongings, they may be stolen. Would you know the solution to this problem? Is there any safe around the beach?

      Hendaye-Irun-Pamplona transport and back

by Phyllis-Omar Online Now Jun 21, 2010 at 6:25 AM

Hi there, I and my husband will be travelling to Pamplona, Spain from France on 30 June. As far as I can see we can get a direct train Paris to Hendaye and then we need to take a Spanish train from Irun to Pamplona. However, I can only see two trains from Irun to Pamplona per day, and back, one at 07:30 and other at 16:00. Is that right? Is there any other means of transportation from Irun to Pamplona and Pamplona to Irun. And also is it easy to get from Hendaye to Irun? Are there taxis at the train station or are there local buses. I will really appreciate if you can provide me information about connection between hendaye and Irun and also Irun to Pamplona. Thanks Phyllis

      Accomodations in Irun

by dnwitte Online Now Jun 1, 2009 at 1:25 PM

Hi Basque Country experts: I'll be rolling into Irun (from Paris) early in the evening---say 6:45 or so-- on a Saturday in mid-July. Will I be screwed for finding accoms for the night on short notice? I'm hoping for a bed in the pilgrim's refugio as Irun is the starting point for my Santiago walk, but barring that a cheapo hotel room would serve. The place doesn't look like a major tourist magnet, but I've been buggered by trade fairs and academic conferences elsewhere on past occaisions. Any thoughts? Thanks Douglas
