Ireland in November...things to do.

by Miguelzgz Online Now Jul 9, 2012 at 6:32 AM

Hello all. I have got some days off(12) in November at work. We have always wanted to visit Ireland, and we wanted to do it during Spring or beguinning of Summer time, but....It seems, we have the chance in November and I think chances are to be used, not to let them pass...so probably we´ll go. I know daylight will shorter, and weather colder, but I still believe it will be worthy. What should I expect? Our plan is to spend the first two days in Dublin, and then hiring a car, sleeping in Bed&breakfast for another 4-5 days and then back to Spain. I would apreciatte any scenic route for that days on the road. I would like to drive 4 or 5 hours a day(stoping to watch villages, castles, abbeys...), then parking at the B&B before going to the pub. I guess it will be low-season for tourism, so probably prices will be o.k, and I won´t need to book lodging in advance. Thank you very much.

What I did some years ago (it was April), drove around the island to Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula, Cliffs of Moher and even up to Ulster/Northern Ireland, including Belfast, Londonderry and Giant's Causeway, and back to Dublin.

Thanks Santi. How many days did you have? I can get a maximum of 9 nights in Ireland, and I don´t like to be always running on the road, if you know what I mean.

Yes, I do; in total, 6 nights touring the island (or 7), but you really don't need "to follow my steps", plus two days in Dublin is enough.

I think you could skip Dingle

I would not skip Dingle, but rather leave Dublin to the end of the trip and then you will see how much is left over for it. I had an afternoon and a night in Dublin and for me that was more than enough ! Dingle has some unique sights like Gallarus Oratory and it does not cost you much extra time when you drive from Ring of Kerry towards the North: "One of my favorite areas in Ireland" - Dingle by globetrott something else you should not miss, while driving north: The Burren: a unique landscape, a combination of rocks and flowers like you find it nowhere else on earth: "The Burren - a unique landscape" - Burren by globetrott

The Burren is very close to the Cliffs of Moher, that I find very much overrated, but that is another thing. These Cliffs simply had some clever advertisments over the last centuries ;-)
