transport from Sanandaj to Kermanshah via Howraman valley
1. Is this feasible in one day, if leaving early and arriving late?
2. How to do it best? Is it possible to hire a taxi or 4WD from Sanandaj to Kermanshah, which would go through Howraman, with a few stops along the road? Only the "easy" route via Dalani/Nosud or also the more difficult (and more spectacular?) road through Howraman-at-Takht?
Thanks a lot also for any suggestions of a driver / agency in the region who could help me with that.

I have been doing research to make the most of our trip to Iran. I realize that there are many km to travel and have a rough itinerary . Just wanted to know how feasible it is for a month of travel. Land in Tehran spend 3 days, (as long flight from western Canada , get in at 1-2 am so will need a rest day) and time to explore then head to Qazvin and the Alumut valley. Then we would like to go to the Katalekhor caves(2 days). continue to Zanjan/Tariz(2 days) Go to Zoroastran temple Takht e Soleiman and the Karaflu caves(1-2 days?) Head to Bisotun (1? day) Go to Choqa Zanbil ( 1 or 2 days with the driving time) Shiraz and Persepolis(2-3 days) possibly fly to Bandar Abbas and ago to the Geopark/ Harra sea forest (2 days)fly back to Shiraz and go to Bam area 2 days, Yazd 2 days Esfahan 3 days then back to Tehran. Thats 25 days and we have lee way for extra time if needed for travelling. If we like a place maybe stay longer. Any feed back would be appreciated.
Hello, I'm planning to travel to Iran with my 13 year old son in June/July. Thinking of flying to Istanbul and then get the train from Ankara to Tehran. We are both gonna be travelling on Swiss Passports.
1. I'm a little concerned about the current political climate. Don't want to be in Iran with my child and Israel decides to attack. What are the chances?
2. Can i get a visa on the bordercrossing travelling by trans asia railway?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks
Is possible to buy iranian navigation maps for Garmin and where?
I live in Slovenia.
Thanks. Silvester
is there any body who has planned to go nature around shiraz ?
Sobh bexeyr, I see the chance to buy the relatively cheap plane tickets in July/August to Teheran. My first concern is the climate- I don't like temperature above 25C-30C. Sightseeing is almost impossible in such weather conditions for me. Hence would it be wise to plan a trip in this season of the year? I'm constrained by school holidays period. Mersi, Maciek
My girlfriend (an Iranian with dual US citizenship) would like me to accompany her on her next visit to Iran so I can meet her family. The length of stay is estimated to be 3 weeks. However, it looks as though I can only get a visa if I am part of a tour group. Is there any way around this ?

Dear all, I just went to Shiraz for 3 days last month as a short break. I love this country and the hospitality of the people. I will go there again 3 weeks later but this time I will start my trip in Tehran. I would like to learn how to ski in Dizin as my iranian friends told me it is the best slope in the world. I have never skiied before but I would like to give it a try. Is it dangerous there? I plan to pay daily rate to get those equippments there, is it safe that way? Is hiring a coach necessary in learning skiing? How to hire a coach and how many days should I stay there to ski? Please let me know all these answers to the questions.. Thanks a lot all!
Hi all I am in Dubai now and I am planning to go to Iran two weeks later. I am a Chinese so getting a visa is very easy for me. My problem is more about the currency. As the Iranian currency is very unstable now, how can I exchange Iranian currency? Can I simply bring in US dollars and do the currency exchange in the airport? (if there is any) I heard of something like the government is going to do something to fix the rate of the its currency. I don't care. I just want to get Iranian currency in a safe and easy way. And then when I leave the country, I also need a way to convert the money back to US dollars. Thanks please help me out. I think October is one of the best months to visit Iran as the weather is optimal. Just a note to all of you: I may not go to Tehran as I don't have enough time. I may just stay in Shiraz and will go to some places nearby. So currency exchange issue is the most important for me. Thanks for your input here in advance!!
Hi there, My Wife and I will visit Iran in the middle of this month and we wanted to book a flight from Tehran to Shiraz but are having great difficulty in doing so. I have tried emailing a few travel agents in Tehran but have so far not received any responses. Because we are only in Iran for 15 days I don't want to waste time whilst we are there and I understand that the flights often get completely booked up. Can anybody recommend a reliable travel agent in Iran who can make the flight booking for me? Thanks and regards, Tiobraidarainnabu

I live in the UK with an Irish passport, am female and travel alone. I want to visit Iran and have booked flights for September. I am having problems getting a visa. I sent the form, photos, a €50 note and a letter to the embassy in Dublin because the London one is closed. After some weeks they sent back all my correspondence, in their official envelope, with a hand-written note on a small piece of plain paper telling me to contact my travel agent in the UK and then call to Dublin for the visa. The only other place I can find to get a visa is the 'Magic Carpet Company' who charge £200.00 for the visa service. I read that Irish passport holders could have their visas sent by mail and did not have to collect in person but the note from Dublin suggests that I have to go there. Given that they don't answer the phone in Dublin and reply to me on a scrap of plain paper I am not confident that I will get a visa even if I go through all those loops. Maybe it is too difficult to proceed with this plan. Even with a visa I will have challenges being in Iran as a single western woman, though I can hired guides. Any comment or advice would be welcome - thanks.
I will be traveling to Dubai in the fall and I am trying to find out what the best way is to book a flight to and a hotel on Kish Island. As an American it is the easiest way to get a taste of Iran without all the complications and expense of going elsewhere in the country. I know that Kish Air flies there but their website is in Arabic. What I am looking for is a travel agent in Dubai who would be able to make the bookings for me. Is there anyone who has any experience of going to Kish and how did you do it?
I am currently in Istanbul waiting for my visa application to be processed. Has anyone had any recent experience of this. I just wanted to know how long it might take as I'm having to rebook my return flight to Tehran...and the consulate still have my passport

I am an American woman who has wanted to go to Iran for years and I have been unable to do so. I feel I should go now - this spring - as it may be my last chance. I would like suggestions for tour companies as well as places to include. I am willing to spend some money - within reason and for added value - to be well guided while there. I want to learn and experience as much as I can. I will, of course, do Persepolis, Shiraz, Isfahan, etc. What about Hamadan area? Masuleh and Tus? Caspian sea area? Mashad and Tus? Kerman, Rayen, Mahan? What is important and what can be cut for these less well known areas? My experience being just a couple (no longer the situation) with a guide has not been wonderful - two times - they paid more attention to visiting friends than to us - in Turkey and Syria. So I might prefer a small group. Any suggestions, recommendations are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi all, I am going to Iran by myself for about 10-12 day. I guess with my limited time, I can only visit Tehran, Persepolis, Isfahan, Kashan. Yazd. Tabriz may also be interesting but I dont think I have enough time for it. (1) It would be good if you guys have any more suggestions for my plan. (2) I am wondering about the inter-city buses in Iran. How can I buy those tickets? Buy them in the bus? I understand that most dont speak any English there. So it would be great if you guys let me know in advance about the way to catch buses, and taxi in Iran. (3) I am a big movie fan. I wanna buy some nice locally-produced films made in Iran. Where can I get those good films? Any big DVD store in Iran? (4) It seems that travelling from tehran to the cities in the south take a lot of time by buses.Would it be possible to travel by local flight? Can I get those flight tickets in Tehran, like just one day before the departure? Thanks. Any further advice is highly appreciated.
