Hi, Iplan to go to Iquitos in a few days and would like to take a boat along the amazon river down to Brazil. How is it? what is the level of confort? are boats leaving everyday? another question on Iquitos, is it better to arrange a jungle lodge tour once arrived in Iquitos than booking it from Lima? Thanks.
Are you sure you wanna travel down the amazon? It will take several days !!!!

Hello, I took a fast boat from Iquitos (Peru) to Santa Rosa (Peru) then got a water taxi to Leticia (Colombia) and a slow boat from Tabatinga (Brazil) to Manaus (Brazil). It sounds complicated but Santa Rosa, Tabatinga, and Leticia are practically the same place. You can land in Santa Rosa (Peru), walk through Colombia, and have Breakfast in Brazil. Quite an experience. If you're not a fussy traveller and enjoy new once in a life time things, the boat ride is fantastic. You set up your hammock up with the locals and drift down river watching the forest go by. The food was good and so was the company. You can have a drink on the top deck and find out the stories of other passengers. The boats are apparently better in Brazil which is why I took a fast boat in Peru.
